Northern Lights Lapland (Finnish: Lappi) is the far north of Finland. The Lapland Province borders the Province of Oulu and the Region of North Ostrobothnia in the south. Lapland remains home to a small population of indigenous Lapps (or Same, or Saami). The provincial capital and biggest city, Rovaniemi, sits on the Arctic Circle that dissects the area. Rovaniemi is considered to be the traditional home of Santa Claus (or Joulupukki in Finnish).
In late winter and early spring as well as in late autumn one can observe a very beautiful scene, when the sky suddenly changes and the northen lights come out.

SantaPark in Rovaniemi
SantaPark is the latest amusement park in Finland. It was opened in 1998. It is not an ordinary amusement park though, since it locates in a large cavern 50 meters below the ground. There is a Santa Claus Village next to the park. On the way to the park there is a reindeer park where you can see or even touch real reindeers.

Arktikum Museum in Rovaniemi
The Arktikum in Rovaniemi provides a unique insight into the way of life, culture and history of the North. It is a museum, science centre, popular cultural venue with impressive meeting and congress facilities and an architectural sight in its own right. The permanent and temporary exhibitions portray culture, history, traditions and modern life in the Arctic regions.

Ruka Ski Resort
Located just below the Arctic Circle and close to the Russian border, Ruka is one of Finland’s top ski resorts. It is the center of winter sports - downhill skiing, dog-sledging, snowmobile riding. The nearest aiport is located in the town of Kuusamo.
